Thanks so much for clicking through to our page!
You've probably been enjoying Paddington's Marvellous Marmalade Martini. Well, this recipe is based on a recipe by cocktail maestro Salvatore Calabrese- the Breakfast Martini, but with a few tweaks.
Read below for the history of the cocktail, plus how we have put our own spin on it.
We've been nominated for an award and we're through to the finals! We now need as many people as possible to vote for us as possible, so please, please take 2 mins to click through. It will be greatly appreciated.
We're based between North London and Norfolk at the moment, and with all of our cocktails being made in Norfolk, local awards make a huge difference to us!
Please follow this link- we're been nominated for the Best Local Food/Drink Producer in Norfolk.
And thank you so, so much!
Right- back to the Breakfast Martini!
Created by Salvatore Calabrese in 1996 at Londons Lanesborough hotel. The idea came to him whilst having breakfast with his wife when he fancied something other than his morning espresso.
A combination of gin, lemon, orange liqueur and an orange marmalade- the recipe is based on the classic White Lady, minus the egg white.
When making it at home, a lighter marmalade is better (less rind), and depending on the type you use, you may need to alter the amount of lemon juice to balance the sweetness. Salvatore recommends stirring in the marmalade, and contrary to many recipes- don't fine strain it. That way you get all the flavours and mouth-feel from the marmalade. Dale Degroff (another cocktail legend) serves it with a triangle of buttered toast on the glass, although we quite like the idea of a bacon butty garnish!
Our Marvellous Marmalade Martini
To put a Mindful Mixology spin on things, we've used a reduced sugar marmalade in our recipe, with a hint of orange bitters. We've also used a local award-winning orange marmalade liqueur!
Simon's Table are a wonderful husband and wife team based close to where our cocktails are made. Their marmalade liqueur has won many accolades, tastes delicious and is made with the finest Seville oranges. We've added it to our recipe to give depth and an extra kick- this is a martini after all.
All you need to do, is shake with ice- to dilute the cocktail and chill it, and strain into a martini glass. Then kick back and enjoy.
We created this exclusively for the Pride of Paddington, one of our favourite venues!
Enjoy!
